About the Shearwater Hot Rod
The Meadowlark Audio Shearwater Hot Rod is a two-way floorstanding loudspeaker using a 1-inch ScanSpeak D2905/95000 fabric-dome tweeter and a 7-inch ScanSpeak 18W8545 carbon-graphite long-throw woofer in a transmission-line enclosure. It measures approximately 40 inches high by 9 inches wide by 11 inches deep. The 2.7kHz first-order crossover uses a damped resonance shunt. The Hot Rod configuration adds upgraded parts including Cardas Solis copper binding posts, an Infini SETI capacitor, Auric capacitors, a 14-gauge Perfect Lay bass inductor, silver-soldered connections, point-to-point wiring, and upgraded internal cable. The cabinet incorporates extensive bracing and Keldamp treatment to control resonances. Its nominal impedance is 8 ohms, with a specified frequency response of approximately 35Hz–25kHz and sensitivity of 88dB.
