About the MC255

The McIntosh MC255 is a premium 5-channel solid-state power amplifier designed for high-performance home theater systems. It features McIntosh's innovative TripleView Power Output Meter that combines three traditional mechanical meters into a single 15-inch wide display, providing real-time power readings for the three front channels. The amplifier delivers 250 watts per channel when using the three front channels, or 200 watts per channel when all five channels are active. Key performance enhancements include a 50% increase in filter capacity resulting in more than doubled dynamic headroom (from 1.7dB to 3.6dB), and a 25% increase in front channel power output compared to previous models. The MC255 incorporates McIntosh's Dynamic Power Manager technology to deliver full power to either 4 or 8 ohm speakers regardless of channel configuration. The amplifier features four McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks connected to advanced high-current output transistors for efficient silent cooling without noisy fans. Additional protection includes Power Guard to prevent speaker damage from clipping and Sentry Monitor to protect against short circuits. The classic McIntosh design includes a black glass front panel with illuminated logo, gold-plated binding posts, and both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs for connection to home theater processors.
