The MC1.25KW Quad Balanced Power Amplifier is McIntosh's most powerful single-chassis monoblock amplifier, redesigned from the ground up to replace the MC1.2KW. This 158-pound (71.7 kg) behemoth delivers 1,200 watts of pure power into a single channel with nearly imperceptible total harmonic distortion of 0.005%. The amplifier features fully balanced Quad Balanced circuitry with two matched 600W amplification stages operating in push-pull, their outputs combined by McIntosh's proprietary Autoformer for optimal impedance matching. Key enhancements include 50% more filter capacitance (162,000µF total), upgraded circuit components, heavier-gauge internal copper wiring, an updated power transformer, new precision metal-film resistors, new film capacitors, and advanced ThermalTrak output transistors for lower distortion and cool operation. The amplifier includes McIntosh's Power Guard technology to prevent clipping, Sentry Monitor fuse-less short-circuit protection, Power Control for system integration, and patented Solid Cinch gold-plated speaker binding posts. The signature black glass front panel features an 11-inch blue Watt meter with direct LED backlighting, control knobs, illuminated logo, and aluminum end caps with handles. The amplifier sits on a polished stainless steel chassis with redesigned feet and four monogrammed heatsinks.
