The McIntosh MCD500 SACD/CD Player combines exceptional sound quality with advanced technology, including four 24-bit/192kHz ESS Sabre ES9008S DACs per channel arranged in a differential balanced configuration for outstanding fidelity and very low noise and distortion. It supports SACD, Redbook CD, MP3, and WMA formats. The player features both fixed and variable balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) analog outputs, allowing direct connection to power amplifiers or preamplifiers. It includes coaxial and optical digital inputs for use as a high-end DAC with other digital sources. The transport uses a twin laser pickup and a die-cast disc tray for precise and stable reading, with data read into memory at twice the normal speed for improved error correction. The MCD500 has a linear power supply with an R-core transformer for stable, noise-free operation. Its front panel is illuminated by fiber optic light diffusers and LEDs, with extruded aluminum side panels. Dimensions are approximately 6" H x 17.5" W x 16.5" D, and it weighs about 28.2 pounds (12.8 kg). It includes a remote control and a headphone amplifier with a 1/4" jack.
