The McIntosh MC-7200 is a stereo power amplifier introduced around 1990, known for its powerful 200 watts per channel output into 8 ohms in stereo mode, and 600 watts into 8 ohms in mono mode. It features a wide frequency response from 10Hz to 100kHz and extremely low total harmonic distortion of 0.005%, ensuring clean and accurate sound reproduction. The amplifier includes McIntosh's patented Autoformer technology to deliver full power to speakers regardless of impedance (2, 4, or 8 ohms), along with Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, and thermal protection circuits for reliability and speaker safety. It supports speaker loads down to 4 ohms minimum and has a high damping factor of 200 for tight control of speaker drivers. The MC-7200 weighs approximately 24 kg (53 lbs) and measures 411 x 181 x 397 mm. It is celebrated for its no-coloration sound and durability, with many units still performing excellently decades after manufacture.
