The McIntosh MA7900 Integrated Amplifier combines a powerful 200 watts per channel amplifier with a high-quality preamplifier section, digital-to-analog converter (DAC), and dual phono inputs for moving magnet and moving coil cartridges. It features McIntosh's patented Autoformer technology allowing connection to 2, 4, or 8 ohm speakers, ensuring full power delivery regardless of speaker impedance. The amplifier offers a discrete five-band analog tone control that can be assigned per input or bypassed, illuminated power output meters, and a multifunction fluorescent display. Digital inputs include USB (32-bit/192kHz asynchronous), coaxial, and optical, supporting high-resolution audio. The MA7900 also includes a high-drive headphone amplifier compatible with headphones from 20 to 600 ohms. Its frequency response is flat from 20Hz to 20kHz with very low distortion (0.005% THD), and it has a wide damping factor (>40). The unit is housed in a polished stainless steel chassis with a classic glass front panel, weighing approximately 34.1 kg and measuring 445 x 193.7 x 558.8 mm. It is praised for its engaging, neutral sound with excellent dynamic power and control, suitable for driving virtually all loudspeaker types.
