About the C100

The McIntosh C100 is a two-channel, dual-chassis solid-state preamplifier and control center manufactured from 1997 to 2000. The system comprises the C100C Controller chassis and C100P Preamplifier chassis, connected by a 25-pin shielded cable. The Controller chassis contains the power supply, remote-control circuitry, input-selection controls, display, and control microprocessors, while the Preamplifier chassis houses the audio circuitry and signal connections, isolating those circuits from the power supply and digital control electronics. The C100 uses a balanced audio design and includes dedicated moving-magnet and moving-coil phono inputs with RIAA equalization and shielded step-up transformers for the MC section. Its volume control uses a 128-step optical rotary encoder with 0.5 dB increments.
