About the C2200

The McIntosh C2200 is a high-end tube preamplifier that was manufactured between 2001 and 2008. It was designed as McIntosh's first tube preamp introduced in 40 years, competing with reference solid-state designs. The unit features a warm tube sound with excellent harmonics and a laid-back delivery. It includes a precision digitally controlled attenuator system for volume control, completely bypassable tone controls with assignable bypass per input, and an innovative Autotone feature that memorizes tone control settings for each input. The C2200 supports multichannel pass-through mode for home theater integration and can control multiple power amplifiers simultaneously. It was highly regarded by audio critics, receiving a Class A recommendation from Stereophile.
