About the Reference 845
The Mastersound Reference 845 is a tubed integrated amplifier designed with a single-ended, class-A output stage and automatic bias. It uses two Psvane HiFi Series 845B power triodes, two JJ ECC802 preamplifier tubes, and two TungSol 6SN7GTB driver tubes. The amplifier delivers 30 watts per channel into 4 or 8 ohms, with a frequency response of 8Hz to 40kHz (±0dB). It features zero negative feedback for natural sound reproduction and includes custom polypropylene capacitors, Vishay 1% resistors, and Swiss Huber+Suhner wiring. Inputs include two pairs of balanced XLR and four pairs of unbalanced RCA, plus a direct input bypassing the preamp and volume control. Outputs provide speaker binding posts for 4 and 8 ohm taps. The chassis is made of anti-magnetic stainless steel with black-anodized finish and black-walnut side panels. Dimensions are 18.1" W × 10.8" H × 16.3" D, weighing 75 lbs (35 kg). It is manufactured in Italy by Mastersound SRL and comes with a five-year warranty. The amplifier is praised for its musicality, transparency, and ability to drive moderately sensitive speakers with ease.
