About the Motion SLM X3

The MartinLogan Motion SLM X3 is a passive, ultra-slim 3-channel on-wall loudspeaker/soundbar intended to deliver left, center, and right channels from one enclosure, particularly beneath or above thin flat-panel televisions. It requires three channels of external amplification; it has no built-in amplifier, HDMI/optical/analog source inputs, wireless capability, streaming, or DSP decoding. Its driver complement comprises three Folded Motion high-frequency transducers and six 4-inch paper/fiber-cone woofers. The sealed, wall-mount-oriented design is only 2 inches (5.1 cm) deep and uses low-profile push-style speaker terminals. Manufacturer literature specifies a 4-ohm nominal load, 93 dB sensitivity, 20–140 W-per-channel recommended amplification, 3 kHz crossover, and 80° horizontal/vertical dispersion. A subwoofer is advisable for deep bass, as rated response begins at 120 Hz. Note: MartinLogan sources differ on upper frequency-response notation: the current product page lists 120–25,000 Hz (±3 dB), while the product manual and historical reviews list 120–23,000 Hz (±3 dB).
