About the Expression ESL 13A

The MartinLogan Expression ESL 13A is a premium hybrid electrostatic floorstanding loudspeaker from the Masterpiece Series. It combines a curved 13-inch CLS XStat electrostatic panel, using MicroPerf stator technology and AirFrame construction, with two forward-firing 10-inch PoweredForce Forward aluminum-cone woofers. The woofers are independently powered by built-in Class-D amplifiers and managed by a 24-bit Vojtko DSP engine. Adjustable bass and mid-bass controls, together with compatibility with Anthem Room Correction, allow the low-frequency section to be optimized for room acoustics. The panel is passive and requires an external amplifier; the woofer amplifiers require AC power. The very low high-frequency impedance makes amplifier compatibility and current delivery important despite the speaker’s relatively high sensitivity.
