About the Ethos

The MartinLogan Ethos is a hybrid electrostatic floorstanding loudspeaker combining a 44 × 9.2-inch XStat CLS electrostatic panel with a PoweredForce bass system. Its low-frequency section uses an 8-inch cast-basket aluminum-cone woofer, an 8-inch polypropylene passive radiator, a 24-bit Vojtko DSP engine, and a 200-watt-per-channel Class-D amplifier. The system is specified to reproduce 34–23,000 Hz ±3 dB, with a 30° horizontal dispersion pattern, 92 dB sensitivity, and adjustable bass control of ±10 dB below 100 Hz. The Ethos uses an extruded-aluminum AirFrame, audiophile-grade crossover components, and custom ETC spikes. It is intended for stereo or home-theater applications and requires connection to an external amplifier for the electrostatic panel and crossover, while its powered woofer section has its own amplification.
