The Mark Levinson No 52 is a high-end reference dual-monaural stereo preamplifier designed with a two-piece chassis separating the analog audio circuitry from the control section to ensure the purest signal path. It features 7 analog inputs including 3 balanced XLR and 4 single-ended RCA inputs, plus a dedicated MC/MM phono input. The preamplifier offers two sets of stereo pre-outs (XLR and RCA) and an auxiliary output configurable for fixed or variable level with independent source selection. The No 52 uses mirror-imaged DC power supplies and AC regeneration circuits for left and right channels, with extensive shielding and separate compartments for each channel's PCBs. It has a frequency response of 10Hz to 40kHz (±0.2dB), a volume control range of 80 dB with 0.1 dB resolution at higher levels, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB. The unit weighs 60 lb (27 kg) split between control and audio chassis, and operates on 100V–240VAC.
