About the MA500
The Marantz MA500 Mono Amplifier is a high-quality monophonic power amplifier produced between 1993 and 1998 in Japan. It delivers 125 watts continuous power into 8 ohms with less than 0.05% total harmonic distortion, and 180 watts into 4 ohms. It features high current discrete power transistors in the output stage and extensive heat sinks for reliable operation and long life. The amplifier has a damping factor of 200, frequency response from 10 Hz to 100 kHz, and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 116 dB. Its compact chassis (84 x 132 x 450 mm) allows convenient shelf or rack mounting. The MA500 supports bridge mode, enabling two units to be combined for 450 watts into 8 ohms. It includes inputs such as Norman Input and D-Bus, outputs including speaker and invert output, and an AC outlet. The unit weighs approximately 6 kg (13.2 lbs) and comes with a remote control cable. It is well-regarded for its clean, powerful sound and reliability in HiFi setups.
