About the Samson V.2
The Samson V.2 is a best-selling equipment rack from Mapleshade Audio, designed to optimize sound quality by providing a rigid, resonance-free vibration path from audio components to the floor. It features solid 2" or 4" thick air-dried maple shelves, which are over 60 times stiffer than typical 3/4" veneered MDF shelves, and solid 1¼" steel uprights that are significantly stiffer than common rack supports. The shelves measure 26" wide by 19" deep, with a side-to-side clearance of 21½" between the uprights, accommodating components up to 21" wide and 19" deep. The rack is available in multiple heights and shelf counts, including two, three, four, and five shelf versions. The maple lumber is air-dried for 3 to 6 years to preserve acoustic qualities. The rack uses massive brass nuts and caps to lock shelves rigidly to the uprights, ensuring zero perceptible sway. Footers are optimized for different floor types, with options including Heavyfeet and Megafeet in various styles to maximize sound quality and floor protection. Users report significant sonic improvements such as smoother, more natural sound, enhanced midrange warmth, better detail, and improved dynamic range. The rack supports heavy loads, with 2" shelves supporting over 300 pounds and 4" shelves over 900 pounds. Optional maple platforms and IsoBlocks can be added for further sonic refinement, especially for turntables and CD players. Overall, the Samson V.2 is regarded as one of the best-sounding equipment racks available, combining high-quality materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and thoughtful design to enhance audio system performance.
