About the Chinook SE II
The Manley Chinook SE-II is a Special Edition MkII tube phono preamplifier made in the USA by Manley Laboratories. It is designed to provide optimum sonic performance with a highly adjustable front end to accommodate most moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges. The SE-II version upgrades the stock Electro-Harmonix 6922 tubes to cryogenically treated and ear-tested Gold Lion 6922 tubes, and offers four gain settings (45, 50, 60, and 65 dB) for expanded cartridge compatibility. It features 32 loading options for MC cartridges via user-selectable resistor values and seven capacitance settings for MM cartridges. The unit has a fully regulated linear power supply, toroidal transformer for low radiation, and an automatic mute circuit that mutes output during tube warm-up and power down. The chassis is available with black, silver, or standard blue faceplates. It includes single-ended RCA inputs and outputs, chassis ground, and IEC power inlet.
