About the Jumbo Shrimp
The Manley Jumbo Shrimp is an all-valve, all-triode line preamplifier designed with a minimalist signal path to deliver high dynamic range and remarkable output drive capability. It uses 2 x 12AT7EH input tubes, 2 x 5670 GE USA dual triode interstage follower tubes, and 2 x 7044 or 5687 GE JAN NOS output tubes. The unique 'White Follower' output stage provides a low 50 ohm output impedance, enabling it to drive almost any source with high bandwidth, low noise, modest local negative feedback, and negligible distortion. It features an ALPS motorized volume control with smooth, no-detent operation and accurate tracking within 0.5 dB, an ALPS balance control, a mute switch with warm-up delay, and includes an RF 'Remora' remote control that operates without line-of-sight limitations. The preamplifier has five unbalanced RCA line inputs, two stereo RCA outputs for bi-amping or subwoofer connection, and a fixed record output. It is voiced for clean, transparent musical performance with quick, alive, and rhythmically accurate sound. The chassis is aluminum with a steel-blue front panel and rack mount holes, measuring 19" x 3.5" x 11" and weighing approximately 15 lbs. Power consumption is about 55 watts. The unit is designed for specific mains voltages depending on destination and requires transformer replacement for voltage changes.
