About the Neo-Classic 500

The Manley 500 Monoblocks are high-power, all-tube monoblock power amplifiers designed to drive very demanding loudspeakers with substantial headroom and bass control. They exist in two closely related families: the earlier Reference 500 monoblocks and the later Neo-Classic 500 monoblocks, both sharing Manley's large push-pull output stages and proprietary output transformers. The Neo-Classic 500 variant features selectable Triode / Ultra-Linear (tetrode) operation, balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, soft-start and "Ever-Warm" standby, front-panel bias access, and very high continuous power output (up to around 500 W in tetrode / Ultra-Linear and roughly 250-275 W in triode, depending on revision). It uses ten KT90EH output tubes per monoblock with dedicated driver and input stages, delivering pronounced tube warmth, precise imaging, and authoritative bass. The older Reference 500 monoblocks are similarly large all-tube designs from Manley's legacy line, but use a different tube complement (commonly 6550 output tubes) and cosmetics while maintaining front-panel bias test points and robust construction. Across both designs, the 500 monoblocks emphasize reliability through conservative operating points, heavy-duty power supplies with large reservoir capacitors, and Manley-built precision output transformers.
