About the Young
The M2Tech Young DAC is a compact, high-resolution digital-to-analog converter that supports PCM audio up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD up to DSD512. It features a variety of digital inputs including USB (asynchronous, proprietary driver), AES/EBU, S/PDIF (coaxial and BNC), TosLink optical, and Bluetooth aptX wireless input. The analog output is single-ended RCA with selectable output voltages (2.5V or 5V RMS single-ended, 5V or 10V RMS balanced). The device incorporates a Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC chip used in a non-conventional mode with a custom FPGA-based oversampling filter, which reduces noise and distortion. It includes a digitally controlled analog volume control, allowing use as a preamplifier with fine volume steps, balance control, mute, phase inversion, and display dimming. The unit is housed in a sturdy half-sized aluminum case with a perforated front panel and LED display showing input and sample rate. Power is supplied via an external 15-18V DC wall wart or an optional Palmer battery power supply for low noise operation. The Young supports MQA decoding for Tidal Masters streaming and offers app control via Bluetooth for parameter adjustments. Dimensions are approximately 200mm wide, 50mm high, and 200mm deep, weighing about 2kg. It comes with a remote control and a 2-year warranty. The Young is praised for its detailed, dynamic sound, wide soundstage, and excellent compatibility with high-resolution digital formats, making it a future-proof DAC option.
