The Lyngdorf Audio DPA-1 is a digital preamplifier and D/A processor incorporating Lyngdorf's RoomPerfect room correction system. It is designed as a digital signal-processing control center that can function as a high-end stereo preamp and as an active crossover for advanced loudspeaker and subwoofer setups. It provides both analog and digital inputs: three unbalanced RCA and one balanced XLR analog input, plus five digital inputs including three coaxial S/PDIF, one AES/EBU, and one Toslink optical input. Analog signals are converted by a dedicated A/D module with 3 unbalanced and 1 balanced inputs and are processed in the digital domain. The unit also offers single-ended and balanced outputs to integrate with a wide range of power amplifiers and subwoofers. RoomPerfect uses a supplied calibrated microphone to analyze the listening room and automatically generate correction profiles, allowing improved tonal balance, depth, imaging, and seamless subwoofer integration without requiring heavy acoustic treatment. The DPA-1 can operate as a two-way active crossover, with user-configurable digital bass management filters. Internally, the DPA-1 is implemented as a fully digital preamplifier with high-performance DSP; its digital inputs accept signals up to 24-bit/192 kHz, while internal processing runs at 24-bit/96 kHz. The design focuses on low noise and high dynamic range to preserve signal integrity, with a flat frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The chassis measures 450 x 355 x 100 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 7.4 kg. Mains voltage is switchable over 100-240 V AC, 50-60 Hz, with power consumption of about 4 W in standby and 35 W in operation. The DPA-1 is no longer in production but remains sought-after for its combination of high-quality digital preamplification, flexible connectivity, and effective RoomPerfect room correction.
