The Luxman D-380 is a high-end digital CD player inspired by the legendary '38' series of Luxman vacuum tube amplifiers from the golden era. It features both solid-state and vacuum tube output stages, allowing users to switch between them for different sonic characteristics. The solid-state output connects directly to the DAC, while the tube output uses a single ECC82 triode, audio-grade film capacitors, and a dedicated EI-type output transformer with P-G feedback for low distortion. Equipped with a Texas Instruments PCM5102A 32-bit/192kHz DAC, jitter reduction IC, FIR/IIR filter selection, and a specialized CD transport on an 8mm aluminum base. Additional features include digital output off function, zoom display, dimmer (4 levels), 4 playback modes (normal, program, random, repeat), last memory, and a robust aluminum remote control (RD-26). Built in Japan with oxygen-free copper wiring, custom low-height capacitors, E-core transformer, 3300uF x3 capacitor banks, and Schottky diodes. Outputs include unbalanced RCA analog, coaxial, and optical digital. The retro wooden cabinet and silver faceplate evoke classic Luxman styling.
