About the CL1000

The Luxman CL-1000 is the successor to the classic 1975 C-1000, designed as a high-end vacuum tube control amplifier that pairs ideally with the MQ-300 power amplifier. It employs Luxman's LECUTA (Luxman Electronically Controlled Ultimate Transformer Attenuator) system with 34-step rotary switch controlling relays outside the signal path, using FINEMET nanocrystal core transformers for precise volume adjustment and superior sound quality at all levels. The signal path includes two-stage P-K NF amplification, super permalloy core transformers for balanced inputs, and JJ Electronic E88CC dual triode vacuum tubes (x6) for the attenuator driver (6dB gain) and output stage. Oil capacitors couple stages, and Line Straight mode bypasses tone controls. The built-in phono preamplifier supports MM and MC cartridges with adjustable gain, impedance, and capacitance via rear-panel switches. Features include tone controls with selectable turnover frequencies, low cut filter at 30Hz (-6dB/oct), mono/stereo selector, balance control, phase inversion, and Articulator function for transformer demagnetization. Housed in a rigid chassis with walnut/rosewood finish and cast-iron feet for vibration control, it offers 4 line inputs (3x RCA, 1x XLR balanced), phono input (RCA), and outputs (2x RCA, 2x XLR). No remote control or digital connectivity.
