About the Axiom II Passive
The Axiom II Passive Preamp by Luminous Audio is a custom-built passive preamplifier designed to deliver exceptional audio clarity by using a fixed series/variable shunt volume control. This design means the audio signal flows through a single high-quality resistor while the amplifier's inputs are shunted to ground via an ALPS potentiometer, avoiding the signal degradation common in traditional volume controls. The standard version has a single input with no switching network, but multi-input versions are available on request. High-quality components include custom long barrel RCA jacks, an ALPS blue pot for smooth volume control, and 4/9's silver wire used in their SyncHestra interconnects. Customers can choose between standard HOLCO resistors or upgraded CADDOCK resistors, with the latter offering more detail. The Axiom II is highly regarded for its clarity and ability to compete with preamps at any price point. It is custom-tailored to match your system's speaker sensitivity, amplifier input impedance, and source output voltage, with gain ratio adjustments Dimensions are approximately 6.75" W x 5.5" D x 2.75" H. More advanced versions include the Walker Mod and remote control options, which feature upgraded attenuators, premium connectors, and enhanced damping for improved performance.
