About the 2-SB
The LKV Research 2-SB is a two-box, solid-state phono preamplifier with a fully differential, balanced signal path using cascaded JFETs and bipolar transistors operating in Class A without loop feedback. It supports MM and MC cartridges with selectable gain and resistive loading from 50 ohms to 47 kohms. The unit provides RCA single-ended input and output connections along with balanced XLR outputs, and uses an external power supply. Published specifications include up to 80 dB signal-to-noise ratio at low gain, channel separation better than 90 dB, and RIAA accuracy within ±0.1% from 20 Hz to 50 kHz. Its construction includes polypropylene signal-path capacitors, dual-mono four-layer circuit boards, and a damped powder-coated aluminum chassis.
