About the Lingo
The Linn Lingo is a dedicated external power supply designed specifically for the Linn LP12 Sondek turntable. It uses two very low noise crystal oscillators derived from Linn's Numerik digital recording system, one for 33.3 rpm and another for 45 rpm playback. The oscillator output is processed through synchronous counters to generate precise 50Hz or 67.5Hz square waves, which are then filtered and amplified to a 120V sinewave to drive the turntable motor with minimal jitter and noise. The Lingo replaces the original Valhalla power supply board inside the LP12 and includes a new motor and an umbilical cable with a spring-locking 8-pin plug. It is housed in a medium-sized, lightweight, folded metal chassis with a powder-coated finish available in black or silver. Installation requires a qualified technician and includes a replacement power supply board inside the turntable. The Lingo is known for producing clearer, deeper, and steadier sound with a very quiet motor operation, significantly improving the LP12's performance. It requires a burn-in period of a day or two to reach optimal sound quality after installation.
