About the Basik-LVX
The Linn Basik LVX is a 9-inch stereo tonearm designed for use with Linn Basik turntables and others with compatible mounting. It features a straight arm tube with a detachable headshell (in the original version) and calibrated tracking force and bias controls. The updated LVX Plus version improved rigidity with a fixed headshell, better bearing housing, and a more rigidly coupled counterweight. The arm is praised for its tonal balance, well-defined stereo image, and performance that rivals many higher-priced arms. It is best suited for moving magnet cartridges and was considered a bargain at its original price point. The arm includes a viscous damping lifting/lowering device to prevent stylus bounce and a locking screw for a solid headshell connection, reducing unwanted mechanical energy reflections. It was introduced in 1980 and ceased production in 1989.
