The Linn Axis Basik Plus is a turntable introduced around 1990 as a simpler, more affordable alternative to Linn's higher-end models like the Sondek LP12 and the Axis. It features a chipboard plinth with laminate, three standard feet for support, and a straightforward design aimed at ease of use and reliability. The Basik tonearm, often paired with this turntable, has an effective length of 230mm, an overhang of 18mm, and supports cartridge weights from 2 to 10 grams with stylus pressure adjustable in 0.1g steps. The tonearm uses a jewelled vertical pivot and ball race horizontal bearing, with low friction and excellent bearing alignment. The Basik arm is praised for its simplicity and ease of setup, making it a great entry point for vinyl playback. The Axis Basik Plus is considered a great used buy due to its less complicated electronics compared to the Axis, which has a more sophisticated but failure-prone power supply. The turntable supports 33 and 45 RPM speeds and is compatible with cartridges like the Ortofon OM series, which can be easily aligned in the Basik arm.
