About the Akito

The Linn Akito tonearm incorporates technology developed for the Ekos tonearm, using high-performance adhesives and a one-piece headshell and bearing housing made from high-pressure die-cast aluminum for maximum strength and rigidity. It features a larger diameter bearing assembly to minimize friction and play, with lateral and horizontal bearing friction both under 50mg. The effective mass is 10g, with tracking weight adjustable from 0 to 3g and cartridge compatibility ranging from 2 to 10g. The arm length from pivot to stylus is 229mm with an 18mm stylus overhang and a mounting distance of 211mm. It is known for its open and spacious sound presentation, excellent timing, and dynamic range superior to some contemporaries. The Akito is suitable for use with high-quality MM or MC cartridges and is the standard arm on the Akurate LP12 turntable. It was introduced in 1989 and ceased production in June 2022. The tonearm is hand-assembled to ensure performance and longevity, making it a favored choice for audiophiles seeking precise and musical vinyl playback.
