The Linear Tube Audio MicroZOTL Preamp Level 2 Upgrade is a refined version of the original MicroZOTL preamplifier, representing the 4th generation of this design. It features a Class A, no-feedback ZOTL circuit topology that delivers precise and musical sound reproduction. The Level 2 upgrade includes a larger custom power transformer with multiple windings for improved isolation and lower noise, premium Japanese film coupling capacitors with gold-plated OCC leads, and an updated 8-bit stepped attenuator volume control offering 100 steps logarithmic and 199 steps linear 'Hi-Res' mode. It also provides three gain control options (0dB default, -15dB, -30dB) for finer low-level attenuation, suitable for sensitive speakers or headphones. The preamp uses a high-quality ceramic circuit board with 2 oz. copper traces and no global feedback, enhancing transparency and presence. Inputs include 4 stereo RCA single-ended and 1 XLR transformer-coupled balanced input with Lundahl transformers. Outputs include dual RCA preamp outputs, tape monitor output, and a headphone jack. The unit is hand-built in Maryland with over 12 hours of assembly and several days of burn-in and testing. It comes with a sleek metal remote control for full function access except power on/off.
