About the NCSE MKII
The LFD NCSE MKII is a British-made integrated amplifier that builds on the success of the Mk.IV LE model, offering increased power output of 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms. It features a robust chassis with a thick faceplate and improved casework to reduce microphony effects. The amplifier uses a pair of MOSFET output devices per channel and includes high-quality components such as Vishay bulk-foil resistors, Shinkoh tantalum resistors, and hand-made silver internal wiring to enhance transparency and reduce grain. It runs cool even at higher power, making it suitable for tight spaces. The NCSE MKII has five line-level RCA inputs, tape monitor input/output, but no phono stage or remote control, reflecting a purist design approach. It is praised for its tube-like sound character, harmonic accuracy, and dynamic range, making it well-suited for driving larger speakers in bigger rooms. Dimensions are approximately 17.2" W x 3.25" H x 15.7" D, and it weighs significantly more than its predecessors due to enhanced casework and components. The amplifier is highly regarded for its musicality, bass performance, and ability to reveal recording nuances without harshness.
