About the ML1

The Lenehan ML1 Reference is a compact bookshelf speaker measuring 325 x 170 x 255 mm (12.8 x 6.7 x 10.0 inches) with a notably heavy and dense cabinet. Its enclosure features a composite of 18 to 36mm High-Density Fiberboard (HDF) laminated to a 3mm sprung steel plate, combined with differential cancellation bracing using 25mm hardwood dowels and 18mm birch plywood. This construction reduces cabinet resonance and tightens bass response, giving it a sealed box-like sound despite having a small rear port. The speaker uses a 5.5-inch Peerless Nomex mid-bass driver and a 1-inch Scanspeak D2608 silk dome tweeter, with a custom-tuned crossover for articulate and detailed sound reproduction. The ML1 Reference is available in a beautiful plum finish with a magnetically attached black grill, and other colors may be available as custom options. It features Eichmann Cable Pods binding posts for secure speaker cable connections. The ML1 Reference is praised for its high-end sound quality in a tidy, powerful package and has been noted for its excellent bass performance for a standmount speaker.
