About the Big 7

The Lampizator Big 7 DAC is a statement high-fidelity digital-to-analog converter that integrates the entire Level 7 DAC concept into a single large chassis, improving ground integrity and power delivery with about 20 power supplies compared to 9 in the Level 7. It uses directly heated triode (DHT) tubes such as 45, 2A3, or 101D in a single-ended anode follower configuration, with a switch to select tube schemes. The DAC supports PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD up to 128 standard, with options for DSD 256 or 512 engines. It features world-class output capacitors (Jupiter Copper Wax or Duelund Copper Wax), silver wire point-to-point 3D wiring, and tube rectification power supplies using tubes like 5C3S, 5U4G, or 274B. The Big 7 is known for its warm, intimate sound presentation and is highly regarded for both PCM and DSD playback quality. The unit measures approximately 45 cm wide, 53 cm deep, and 13 cm tall, weighing 16 kg net and consuming about 40 watts of power. Optional features include volume control with remote and balanced output topology. The Big 7 has been updated in later versions and merged with the Golden Gate DAC line, with the original Big 7 now discontinued.
