About the Amber 3
The Lampizator Amber 3 DAC is a high-end, fully tubed DAC designed and handmade in Warsaw, Poland. It features a tube rectifier power supply with a slow start to protect tubes, and a tube complement including ECC99 (or ECC81) input tubes, ECC82 (or 12BH7) output buffer tubes, and a 6C5S or 6X5 tube rectifier. The digital engine is the DS53, derived from the Pacific DAC program, supporting PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD up to x512 (DSD256 on Mac). It offers both balanced (XLR) and single-ended (RCA) analog outputs, with selectable gain levels (low and high gain). The DAC supports USB input compatible with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS, as well as AES/EBU, SPDIF, and BNC digital inputs. The Amber 3 includes copper output capacitors, a CLC power filter, and a linear power transformer. It has a robust chassis with customizable colors and a 5-year warranty. The DAC is praised for its natural, spacious, and dynamic sound, with a zero-feedback, single-ended triode input stage and a low impedance output buffer that drives transistor amplifiers well. It also features a newly designed muting circuit to avoid pops and clicks during operation. Dimensions are approximately 430 mm (W) x 140 mm (H) x 330 mm (D), weighing about 12-13 kg net depending on configuration, with power consumption between 20 and 30 Watts.
