About the ML2
The Lamm Industries ML2 is a single-ended triode monoblock power amplifier known for its exceptional audio fidelity and engineering. It delivers 18 watts continuous power into 4, 8, or 16 ohms with 3% total harmonic distortion. The amplifier uses a tube complement including a 12AX7 input tube, two 6N6P driver tubes, and two 6C33C output tubes, one of which serves as a series-pass element in the fully regulated output-stage power supply. The power transformer is suspended in vibration-absorbing material to reduce mechanical noise, and the custom hand-wound output transformer has a very low turns ratio optimized for the 6C33C tube, with taps for 4, 8, and 16 ohm speaker outputs. The amplifier features a soft-start circuit to extend tube life and allows user adjustment of plate voltage and current via test points and trimmers. It offers a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz (–0.3dB), a signal-to-noise ratio of 90dB A-weighted at 4V into 16 ohms, and a damping factor of 9.5 at 1kHz. Inputs include pseudo-balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA jacks. The ML2 is designed to reproduce the entire audio spectrum with natural midrange, extended bass, and exquisite highs, creating a transparent, three-dimensional soundstage. It weighs 81 lbs per unit and measures 16" x 8.25" x 20.375". The ML2 series has evolved through versions ML2, ML2.1, and ML2.2, with improvements in power supply, input stage, and component quality, maintaining the core design philosophy of high-current low-impedance triode operation and regulated power supply for superior sound quality.
