About the M-2.2

The Lamm Industries M-2.2 is a hybrid monoblock power amplifier that combines a solid-state input stage, a single specially selected 6922 vacuum triode in the second (driver) stage, and a bank of high-speed MOS-FET output transistors. It operates in pure Class A up to approximately 41 watts into 8 ohms (and roughly 20-36W into 4 ohms depending on spec revision), after which the output stage runs in a highly biased Class A/AB mode with no overall feedback. Conservatively rated, the M-2.2 delivers 220W into 8 and 4 ohms, and up to 440W into 2 ohms and 600W into 1 ohm continuously, with rear-panel bias/impedance switching that allows optimal idle current and voltage delivery for loads between 1-16 ohms. This configuration enables the amplifier to drive virtually any loudspeaker while preserving harmonic structure, clarity, and micro-detail at all power levels. Construction is fully hand-crafted, using high-grade parts such as low-noise DALE metal-film resistors, PRC wire-wound resistors, Electrocube and Roederstein film capacitors, high-frequency Cornell Dubilier electrolytic capacitors, Bourns multiturn potentiometers, Hammond filter chokes, military-grade long-life tubes, heavy-duty gold-plated binding posts and RCA jacks, gold-plated Neutrik XLR connectors, and Fischer CAMAC-type coaxial connectors. A specially designed toroidal power transformer is mechanically decoupled from the chassis and cover and suspended in a vibration-absorbing encapsulant, greatly reducing mechanical resonance and contributing to the amplifier's exceptional clarity and micro-resolution. The rear panel provides balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs, two pairs of five-way binding posts, and a toggle/bias switch to select high (8-16 ohm) or low (1-6 ohm) impedance ranges and corresponding bias settings. The M-2.2 is built to operate on all standard AC mains voltages worldwide and has a physical weight of about 65-71 lb (approximately 30-32 kg) depending on specification and measurement, with dimensions of roughly 17" W x 8.25" H x 19.5" D.
