About the LP2
The Lamm LP2 is a high-quality dual-mono vacuum tube phono preamplifier with separate MM and transformer-coupled MC inputs, operating in pure class A with no loop feedback and a passive RIAA EQ network for accurate LP playback. Its gain is approximately 38dB for the MM input and 58dB for the MC input, with fixed input impedances of 47k ohms (MM, in parallel with about 200pF capacitance) and 40 ohms (MC), and an output impedance of 3.5k ohms. The LP2 is available in standard and Deluxe versions; the Deluxe version adds greater power-supply energy storage, polystyrene bypass capacitors for film capacitors in the signal path, and a massive damping panel that significantly reduces mechanical vibrations, and weighs about 41.5 lbs versus roughly 22 lbs for the standard unit. The tube complement uses specially selected Western Electric-type 417A/5842 miniature triodes in the gain stage and a 6X4/6202 rectifier tube in the power supply, and the design is intended for use in reference-quality audio systems and recording studios, with typical power consumption around 70W.
