About the XL4
The Kuzma XL-4 is a mass-loaded turntable designed for audiophile performance. It features a solid brass base clamped from two pieces for excellent damping, weighing 27 kg. The main shaft is 28 mm in diameter with an inverted ruby ball bearing for low friction. The platter weighs 22 kg and is made of aluminum and acrylic layers with a semi-hard rubber and textile mat. The turntable uses four AC motors housed in heavy brass towers (7 kg each) to drive the platter via precision plastic belts, ensuring stable speed at 33 and 45 rpm. The tonearm tower is a massive 14 kg brass unit that allows height (VTA) adjustment during playback without loss of rigidity or azimuth, supported by a 30 mm diameter linear ball bearing. Adjustments are precise and repeatable with a micrometer readout. The total mass of the turntable without power supply is 96 kg, with dimensions of 450 x 400 x 300 mm. The power supply is factory set for 110V or 240V at 50/60Hz. Optional accessories include additional towers and armboards to accommodate various tonearms. The XL-4 is known for its structural rigidity, damping properties, and precise speed control, making it a high-end choice for vinyl playback enthusiasts.
