About the KBX

The Krell KBX is an external active crossover designed to separate audio frequencies for use in bi-amplified speaker systems and sub/satellite configurations. It features fully discrete circuitry with an external power supply and accepts both single-ended RCA and balanced XLR connectors for input and output. The crossover can be configured with various crossover points and filter slopes depending on the specific application and speaker system it is designed for. It operates in stereo mode and requires four channels of amplification after the crossover (either two stereo amplifiers or two pairs of mono amplifiers). The KBX was custom-configured for specific speaker systems, including Martin Logan Monolith loudspeakers and Apogee Full Range speakers, among others. Units are typically found on the used market and are highly regarded by audiophiles for their sound quality in properly configured systems.
