The Krell LAT-1 is a flagship loudspeaker designed with a six-driver, three-way configuration. It includes a 1-inch ring-radiator tweeter with a central waveguide, two 5.25-inch midrange cone drivers arranged in a D'Appolito array, and three 8-inch long-excursion, reflex-loaded woofers with composite carbon-fiber cones. The crossover frequencies are set at 300 Hz (first-order) and 2.9 kHz (third-order Butterworth), delivering a frequency response of 38 Hz to 22 kHz within ±3 dB. The speaker has a sensitivity of 91 dB/2.83V/m and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, with a minimum load impedance of 3.9 ohms. It is recommended to be paired with amplifiers rated between 100 and 800 watts. The cabinet is constructed from 1 to 1.5-inch thick aluminum, designed to be sonically inert and minimize resonance, weighing 250 lbs. The finish options include black or silver anodized aluminum. The LAT-1 features a robust crossover network built on fiberglass circuit boards with high-quality components such as air-core inductors and polypropylene capacitors to ensure low distortion and high current handling.
