About the KPE Standard

The Krell KPE Standard phono preamplifier, introduced in 1994, is designed to accommodate both moving coil (MC) and moving magnet (MM) cartridges. It features adjustable gain and input impedance settings to optimize performance with a wide range of cartridges. The unit is known for its low noise floor, dynamic sound, and precise cartridge loading options, making it a versatile and high-quality phono stage. It can be powered by Krell's KBL, KRC-2, or KCT preamplifiers or an optional external power supply. The KPE Standard offers a signal-to-noise ratio of -71 dB for MC and -89 dB for MM, with gain settings of 64.5 dB for MC and 36.5 dB for MM. Input impedance is adjustable from 10 ohms to 47 kohms, allowing fine-tuning for cartridge compatibility. The unit measures approximately 7.1" W x 2.4" H x 12" D and weighs about 5.5 kg (12 lbs) without the power supply.
