The Krell Evolution 505 is a premium SACD/CD player designed for audiophiles seeking reference-level sound quality. It features Class A, balanced Krell Current Mode topology from input to output, providing increased bandwidth and low distortion. The player uses PCM1738 differential advanced segment DACs for superior dynamic range and includes a zero feedback design to preserve the original harmonic structure of recordings. It supports multi-channel 5.1 SACD playback and reads various disc formats including redbook CD, CDR, WAV, AAC, and DVD-R/RW/+R/+RW discs. The Evolution 505 employs separate linear power supplies for the drive mechanism and audio circuits, optimized for Class A operation. It offers multiple analog outputs including balanced XLR, single-ended RCA, and proprietary CAST outputs, as well as digital outputs (S/PDIF and optical). Control features include RS-232, 12 VDC triggers, and Krell CAN Link for integration with other Evolution components. The player has a robust build with a 65 VA transformer for the drive and a 45 VA transformer for audio, ensuring voltage stability. An upgraded anti-jitter circuit enhances coherence and bass performance. The unit measures 17.3" W x 6" H x 17.3" D and weighs 29 lbs (13.2 kg) without packaging.
