The Krell Evolution 403e is a three-channel power amplifier featuring 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with a massive 6,000 VA power supply composed of two 3,000 VA transformers and 188,000 µF capacitance. It employs Krell's Active Cascode Topology, eliminating global negative feedback and allowing nested local feedback for a more open and liquid sound. The amplifier uses Current Mode and CAST circuitry for wide bandwidth and low noise, with a slew rate of 100 V/µs and output impedance below 0.055 ohms at 20 Hz. It has a damping factor greater than 145 at 20 Hz and over 125 up to 20 kHz. Power consumption can reach up to 5,000 watts with heat output up to 7,700 BTU/hr under heavy use.
