The Krell DT-10 is a high-performance CD transport that quickly established itself as a top-tier component, especially when paired with the Krell Reference 64 processor. It features a warm and rich tonal balance with excellent resolution of low-frequency detail, providing a full, deep, and warm bottom end with excellent extension. The midbass is slightly warm rather than lean and tight, offering a weighty but articulate and fast presentation that conveys detailed nuances in the lower registers. The DT-10 delivers a more immediate, incisive, and present sound compared to some competitors, with tight and well-defined imaging but somewhat less spacious soundstage depth. Its power supply includes a large toroidal transformer and multiple regulation stages for stable operation. The transport mechanism is a modified Philips CDM-4 Pro controlled by Krell software, housed in a 19" W by 3.5" H by 14" D chassis weighing approximately 21 lbs. It includes a remote control and supports multi-channel output, enhancing its versatility in high-end audio setups.
