About the KSL-SFz
The KSL-SFz is a meticulously handcrafted MC step-up transformer designed by Kondo to maximize the performance of moving coil cartridges and deliver true analogue sound. It employs a custom-made core constructed from ultra-thin permalloy plates to minimize eddy current and hysteresis losses, ensuring a flat frequency response up to 100 kHz and very low distortion. The transformer uses pure silver KSL winding wire, skillfully wound to guarantee wide bandwidth and a flat frequency response. The output cable is a 1 meter long KSL-LPz pure silver cable terminated with RCA connectors. The transformer is designed with three selectable primary winding impedances (1Ω, 3Ω, 40Ω) to accommodate various cartridge impedances, with corresponding step-up ratios of 36dB, 30dB, and 20dB respectively. It weighs approximately 3.2 kg and measures 114mm (W) x 150mm (H) x 175mm (D) excluding protrusions. The KSL-SFz is highly regarded for its ability to unleash the original spirit of the artist by preserving the purity and detail of the audio signal through its advanced materials and handcrafting techniques.
