About the Vision DAC-1
The Kinki Studio Vision DAC-1 is a balanced DAC equipped with a single AKM high-performance digital audio chip, the AK4495. It features a built-in XMOS XU208 USB interface and supports up to 32/384 kHz PCM and DSD128 via USB, as well as 24/192 kHz and DoP DSD64 via SPDIF. The DAC is built with a cost-no-object approach, utilizing a 0.2um gold-plated printed circuit board (PCB) and two UK-made AMPLIMO transformers for separate digital and analog power supplies. These transformers are encapsulated in a CNC-machined aluminum block to minimize noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI). The main board is enclosed in an 8mm thick anodized aluminum 'wall' for further EMI protection. The sound signature aims for neutrality and musicality, offering rich tonal quality, vivid sound imaging, and high resolution. Key specifications include a signal-to-noise ratio of 116 dB, a dynamic range of 122 dB, and a total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) of 0.008% at 2Vrms. The frequency response is 3-150 kHz (0-3 dB). The DAC supports various inputs, including coax, BNC, AES/EBU, and USB, with outputs available in RCA (3Vrms) and XLR (6Vrms). It also features a BNC Word Clock input. The dimensions are 430W x 90H x 330D, and it weighs 11 kg.
