About the KPA-1

The Kinergetics KPA-1 is a stereo preamplifier designed with dual mono construction and an external power supply. It features separate right and left volume controls, no tone controls, and no subsonic filter. The preamp is always powered when plugged in, with a power toggle controlling a relay for power outlets on the separate power supply chassis. It has a friction-coupled dual rotary volume control for each channel, eliminating the need for a balance control. The rear panel includes 24 RCA jacks with symmetrical separation to preserve dual-mono channel isolation. It supports three pairs of unbalanced RCA phono inputs for MC, MM, and MI cartridges, all active and connected to the RIAA equalization network. Additional high-level inputs include two tape decks, a tuner, and two auxiliary sources, plus outputs for two tape recorders. The unit is noted for superb build quality and outstanding sound performance.
