The KEF Model 102 Reference Series is an ultra-compact two-way bookshelf speaker system designed for high-quality sound reproduction with excellent bass extension down to 40 Hz (-6 dB, Q=0.5) and a maximum sound pressure level of 107 dB. It features a 6-inch (160 mm) polypropylene cone bass/midrange driver and a ferro-fluid cooled T33 1-inch soft dome tweeter, delivering smooth, neutral sound with low coloration. The system includes KEF's proprietary KUBE active low-level equalizer, which allows for extended bass response and room contour adjustment to optimize sound balance. The speaker uses a hybrid dividing network with conjugate load matching to ensure a resistive impedance for easy amplifier driving and high power handling. The enclosure is a closed box design, measuring 330 x 208 x 263 mm and weighing 6.8 kg. It was available in natural walnut or rosewood finishes. The Model 102 is ideal for locations with limited space, offering the performance of a full-sized speaker with compact dimensions.
