About the 105 II

The KEF 105 Series II is an improved version of the successful KEF Model 105, introduced in 1982. It is a three-way coherent phase loudspeaker system with three drivers: a 12-inch (300 mm) woofer for bass frequencies from 38 Hz to 400 Hz, a 5-inch (110 mm) cone midrange driver covering 400 Hz to 2500 Hz, and a 2-inch (50 mm) dome tweeter for frequencies above 2500 Hz. The system features a sophisticated crossover network designed to correct acoustic amplitude and phase response and optimize impedance for the amplifier. The midrange and tweeter are housed in a separate head assembly that can be rotated horizontally by ±30 degrees and tilted vertically by ±7 degrees to direct the acoustic axis toward the listening position. The bass enclosure is heavily braced and the woofer is mechanically isolated to reduce coloration. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, frequency response of 38 Hz to 22 kHz ±2 dB, and weighs approximately 80 lbs (36.3 kg). It includes a peak level LED indicator and a protection circuit (S-Stop). Dimensions are about 38" (96.5 cm) high, 16.3" (40.6 cm) wide, and 17.9" (45.5 cm) deep. The system was designed with extensive computer analysis and subjective listening tests to ensure high fidelity and accurate sound reproduction.
