About the KAM2000
The Karan Acoustics KAM2000 is a high-end fully balanced mono power amplifier designed by Milan Karan. It delivers 2000 watts into 8 Ohms, 3600 watts into 4 Ohms, and 5400 watts into 2 Ohms, making it capable of driving virtually any loudspeaker with ease. The amplifier features a fully balanced topology with no global negative feedback, ensuring ultra-low intermodulation distortion of less than 0.02% at full rated power. It uses custom-made 1500 VA low-noise toroidal transformers and a massive 132,000 µF filter bank per channel, with eight stages of voltage regulation for stable power delivery. The amplifier is DC coupled to eliminate signal-path capacitors, enhancing linearity and phase response. It employs a current feedback topology and ultra-fast Sanken RET output devices capable of delivering a total current potential of 800 amperes. The frequency response extends from DC to 300 kHz with ±3 dB tolerance, and the signal-to-noise ratio is better than -112 dB at rated output. The damping factor exceeds 10,000 into 8 Ohms across the audible bandwidth. The amplifier is built with 24k gold-plated circuit boards, Vishay resistors, custom Teflon/Copper capacitors, Cardas internal wiring, and premium WBT and Furutech connectors. It weighs 76 kg and measures 500 x 235 x 450 mm. Sonically, it is described as warm yet dynamic, with excellent bass control, transient speed, and a wide soundstage, combining the authority and speed of solid-state with the warmth and musicality of tubes. It remains cool under operation due to a special sliding bias technology and efficient power management.
