About the SEA-80

The JVC SEA-80 is a high-fidelity 10-band stereo graphic equalizer featuring a fluorescent spectrum analyzer display that visually represents frequency bands from 31.5 Hz to 16 kHz. Manufactured in Japan between 1979 and 1982, it offers a control range of ±12 dB in 2 dB steps across ten center frequencies. It includes a pink noise generator and supports room acoustic measurements with an optional MU-S80 electret condenser microphone. The device has a robust metal housing with aluminum front and gray metallic casing, measuring 450 x 158 x 312 mm and weighing 8 kg. It provides three inputs (line, tape, tape DIN) and one output (line 2 V). Technical specifications include a frequency response of 10 Hz to 100 kHz, total harmonic distortion under 0.003%, signal-to-noise ratio above 118 dB, and crosstalk attenuation of 80 dB. Additional features include separate left and right channel sliders, memory function, SEA effect on/off, tape monitor selector, and pink noise output. Power consumption is 26 W with selectable AC voltage (110 V to 240 V). The SEA-80 was originally priced around 1,300 DM and is no longer manufactured.
